This is Silly Sammy -- A.K.A.
Sammy-Barks-A-Lot. She spent her days
dogging my son as his seizure-indicating dog. Sammy was never
trained to do this -- she just learned on her own. She followed
my son all day, and slept with him. When he was going to have a
seizure, Sammy would come to me and bark. When Sammy left Phillip's
side, I always investigated!
We lost Sammy to a long fight with cancer. In September 2002 she was diagnosed with lymphoma and only given weeks to live. She lived 9 months with no symptoms. After a bad weekend, she crossed quietly and easily over the Rainbow Bridge. I'm sure she's teaching all the dogs waiting there new tricks. |

At left was Sammy the day she finished
her championship at 17 months.
This is Sammy in 1999:
This picture was taken when Sammy was 9 years old at the CCWCC Fun Day Match. She hasn't changed much -- except she has grown into her legs! |
| Sammy's favorite thing was sitting up and begging. She could sit on those haunches for hours. Sammy was a very special girl. When this picture was taken, she was recovering from an extensive breast cancer surgery. She lost two breasts and had three malignant tumors. Five months later she had to have another malignant lump removed. After herbal chemotherapy, she was been cancer-free for six month. Her surgery didn't slow her down one bit -- as a matter of fact, she still chased the S-Q-U-I-R-R-E-L-S as fast as any youngster in the house! |
