Gloria is our pride and joy. A constant character, she is always out
to amuse. She has a lovely face, a beautiful attitude, sparkling
showmanship and a love of all things. Gloria is convinced that dog
shows are staged for her own personal entertainment and she insists on
being the center of attention.
In the whelping box, Gloria also has to have it her own way. She
free whelped her first litter, by herself, and would have done the same
with her second litter, but I heard her two sons squeeking! An excellent
mother, she is proving herself an excellent producer.

Gloria started out her show career by going Reserve
Winners Bitch at the 1994 CWCCA National Specialty under judge Janet Robinson.
This was her first show and she was only 7 months old. Although slightly
out of coat, she turned heads and started gathering fans. Her second show
at 8 months was the CWCCA supported Berrien Springs Show. She was WB and
BOW for a 5 point major. Gloria's championship was won easily by spring
1995. |
- After finishing her championship, Gloria
took some time off to have a litter of puppies. Pictured are the July 1996 Dog Fancy
Centerfold kids: Crane, Ch. Indy
and Iris

The fourth puppy from this litter was Ch.
Inky, who
appears on the cover of the 1997/1998 Puppies USA Annual magazine. |
| Gloria returned to the show ring at the 1996 CWCCA National Specialty.
She wasn't shown in the breed, so she "came out" at the Megan
Competition (Champions only competition judged by a panel of three breeders).
Pictured is the result -- Runner Up to Best Cardigan. Not bad for not being
on lead in over a year! |

Gloria began her specials career with handler and best buddy Kim Fitzgerald.
After many Bests of Breed and several nice group placements, at the last
show of the year -- GROUP WINNAH!!!! Gloria went Best in Herding Group
at the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club show in Bethlehem Pennsylvania.
Thanks so much to Lester Mapes for this thrilling win. |
| Gloria went Best of Breed at the
Western Reserve Independent Specialty in August 1998. Pictured is
Gloria and judge Gayle Garvin and proud breeder Patrick looking on. |

 |
And . . . the culmination of a
specialty career -- Gloria going Best of Breed at the National Specialty
in 1999. This was a nice entry of 90 (!!!) specials.
Gloria's amazing show attitude never flagged even after several hours in
the ring. And, as a special treat, right behind her being awarded
an Award of Merit was her daughter, Fiona! |

In between Specialty appearances
Gloria has continued to produce lovely puppies for us. She is the
dam of 6 champions now and has been awarded her Register of Merit,
Bronze level for her producing ability. She is a truly
"special" Cardigan. Gloria is now a veteran and will not
have any more puppies, but she will make special appearances at selected
shows! |
