Chriscats Selling Policies

Feel free to contact us by email and we will be happy to give you any information you would like on the kittens.  Email inquiries are wonderful, but before we will consider you as a potential buyer, we would like to talk to you on the phone at the very least, and would prefer to meet you in person.

Here are a few important things you should know about Chriscats kittens:
  • Kittens are sold only to pre-qualified (screened) purchasers.
  • All long-distance kitten buyers are required to fill out a questionnaire.
  • General health is guaranteed.
  • Other guarantees (inherited defects and temperament) are stated in our Kitten Contract.
  • Pet kittens are sold on Non-Breeding Registration -- without exception.
  • Pet kittens are required to be altered --no exceptions.
  • Kittens start at $700 and are priced according to quality.  The only exception is for preexisting health defects.
  • Deposits are taken only after kittens are actually born. Your kitten is then considered "sold" and other buyers will be placed on a waiting list for a future litters or referred elsewhere. For this reason, deposits are non-refundable unless the kitten is not available for delivery.
  • Further details are in our Kitten Contract.

Here are some other important facts about Chriscat Kittens:

We pride ourselves on the quality of our kittens.

  • All parents are show quality animals or they are not included in our breeding program.
  • All breeding stock is screened for known health problems.
  • All kittens are vet-checked before going to their new homes.
  • Kittens are guaranteed for health, inherited defects and temperament defects.

Temperament is the primary consideration in our breeding program.

  • Pregnant queens are strictly monitored throughout their pregnancy.
  • Kittens are born in a quiet place, away from other cats, but where they can hear and interact with humans on a regular basis.
  • Socialization techniques begin when mother allows handling of the kittens.
  • When the kittens are older, they are moved to into the general household and remain in the *middle* of our busy house.
  • All kittens are given equal time and attention -- whether they are pet or show quality.

We carefully rear the kittens in an enriched environment to be well-adjusted adults.

  • Our kittens have full run of the house from 7 weeks and are provided with stimulating toys, scratching posts and cat trees.
  • The kittens are weaned according to the mother's schedule, not mine.
  • Adults and kittens are allowed to interact and play.  This teaches the kittens to be social with other animals as they grow.
  • The kittens are given a cage to sleep in at 7 weeks.  This teaches the kittens to sleep at night and helps train show kittens to be confined.
  • Litter box training begins as early as 3 weeks.  Kittens are fully box trained by 7 weeks of age, or earlier.
  • Car trips begin at 10 weeks of age.  The kittens learn to be comfortable in a carrier in the car.
  • Toenail trimming begins at 3 weeks of age.  Kittens' nails are trimmed weekly.

All our cats are beloved house-pets and members of our family.

  • Whether a kitten is to be a pet or a show cat, we require that they be house-pets and not cattery kept.

We are responsible for all kittens produced for their entire life.

If you think you would like to be considered for one of our kittens, please feel free to contact us.  We are happy to provide references.  We would like you to provide references, too.
